Meslier stunned by power behind Bergwijn shot in Tottenham clash
Illan Meslier has, perhaps surprisingly, picked out a shot from Steven Bergwijn as one that sticks out when asked on the about an attempt he remembers for being particularly powerful since Leeds United’s promotion.
Meslier has certainly been one of the busiest goalkeepers in the top-flight over the last two seasons. Heading into Thursday’s clash with Aston Villa, the Frenchman had made the second-highest number of saves of any goalkeeper in the league this season, .

He has produced some amazing stops in that time. The 21-year-old has kept Leeds in a number of games this season, even if he has not yet quite hit the heights of last term.
Meslier was asked on the Premier League’s YouTube channel who the best player he has come up against since Leeds were promoted is.

The follow up question centred around whether any players stick out for having a particularly powerful shot. And interestingly, Meslier opted for a Tottenham player.
However, it is probably not the Spurs player that many would have expected.
“I think it was in Tottenham last season, I received a ball in the chest from Bergwijn. Oh my god, too much power,” .
Meslier praise of Bergwijn helps highlight potential Tottenham forward does have
Bergwijn has not had the easiest time in England. He has only shown flashes of his quality. Of course, the standout moment came when he inspired Spurs to a last-gasp win at Leicester.
On that occasion, he scored twice in stoppage-time to secure Tottenham a 3-2 victory. Unfortunately, those moments have been too few and far between.
He has only scored five more goals for Spurs. In fact, he has not scored in any of his other Premier League appearances this term.
The frustration is that the quality is clearly there. He is probably not the Tottenham player that fans would expect to come up when Meslier was asked that question.
But it does help highlight the danger he can provide when it clicks for Bergwijn.
