Merson says ‘underrated’ £30m star would be great signing for Tottenham

Paul Merson claims that Wolverhampton Wanders forward Raul Jimenez would be a great signing for Tottenham.

Jimenez, 30, is a centre-forward that missed the majority of last season because he fractured his skull in November 2020. It’s great to see though he’s played his first minutes since during this summer’s pre-season, as he works his way back to full fitness.

The Mexican striker has shown his worth already in a Wolves shirt. He’s struck 48 goals in 110 Wolves appearances, including 34 goals in the Premier League.

Spurs frontman Harry Karry Kane has strong links with an exit this summer. According to , the 27-year-old may join Manchester City for £160million.

As a result, pundit Merson says that attacker Jimenez is a perfect Spurs option to replace him.

“With Nuno Espirito Santo now in North London, Spurs may well have an alternative to Harry Kane this season. With the England captain possibly on his way out, Santo will need to sign a replacement and Raul Jimenez suits the role to perfection,” Merson told .

“Raul Jimenez is one of the best strikers on offer at the moment and is the most underrated player in the Premier League.”

Jimenez an intriguing option for Tottenham to consider

Jimenez has now played some minutes in pre-season, but it’s unclear on how long it’ll be until he’s firing again. The best news is that he’s back on the pitch once more.

If Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo believes Jimenez can rediscover his best, Spurs should definitely consider him.

It’s going to be hard to find many strikers built in Kane’s mould, but the Wolves ace is pretty close.

He’s someone that is usually clinical around the box. Also, he brings others into play successfully, and works so had off the ball.
