Media wowed by Tottenham man’s international outing last night despite never playing competitively under Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham Hotspur have had plenty of players out on international duty during the latest break.

Although most have taken part in friendlies, there have been a few Spurs players for whom qualification for Euro 2024 was at stake.

Tottenham trio Ben Davies, Brennan Johnson and Joe Rodon have been in action for Wales over the past week.

The Dragons were in play-off action during the international break just gone, making it to the final after beating Finland 4-1 last week.

Sadly, Wales fell agonisingly short in their pursuit of a spot in the finals of Euro 2024, taking Poland all the way to penalties before losing 5-4.

Despite the heartbreak, Davies, Johnson and Rodon can be proud of themselves for their efforts.

The Spurs trio will be eager to regroup for the UEFA Nations League and qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Rodon once again impressed for Wales. Although his Tottenham career hasn’t really got going – indeed, he’s out on loan at present – he continues to shine for his country.

What have Welsh media outlets said about Spurs and Wales defender Joe Rodon?

On Tuesday, Welsh media outlets liked what they saw from the £17million Spurs man as his nation went toe to toe with the Poles.

‘You rarely notice him, which is always a decent thing for centre-backs,’ wrote , who gave him an 8 out of 10 rating.

‘Always in the right place at the right time and rarely places a foot out of line. Shoved Robert Lewandowski off the ball in a perilous one-v-one.’

Meanwhile, gave the Tottenham loanee a 7 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.

‘He was solid all night at the back for Wales,’ they wrote. ‘And made some huge headed clearances that could have been golden opportunities for Poland otherwise.’

Rodon is also impressing at Leeds, so you wonder whether Ange Postecoglou will give him another chance in pre-season.

He under the new Tottenham manager, but surely he’s giving Postecoglou food for thought this season.
