Video: Super-fit Tottenham 19-year-old spotted in training pre-Marseille

Tottenham are preparing for another massive game in their season as they look to take something from Marseille tomorrow night.

Spurs need a result to guarantee their place in the next phase of the Champions League. They were denied that progress last week when Harry Kane’s last minute ‘winner’ was controversially ruled out by VAR.

However, a big comeback win at the weekend against Bournemouth will have boosted Spurs. Antonio Conte’s side came from two down to defeat the Cherries.

Of course, the big news for Conte and Spurs ahead of Marseille is whether or not players like Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison will be back And while neither can be seen in the most recent , young midfielder Matthew Craig is in there.

Craig, who is a 19-year-old midfielder, has been in and around the first team already this season. But with numbers depleted ahead of the clash in France, Craig might be called upon to do more than train this week.

writes how Craig is a former 1500m district champion in what could be a nod to the fitness levels the youngster naturally possesses. Certainly, that won’t do him any harm in Antonio Conte’s system.

TBR’s View: Matthew Craig must be doing something right at Tottenham

We all know Conte prefers players who are ready made. So for Craig to be featuring in the training sessions under the Italian suggests he is doing something right.

We haven’t seen too many young players really get a sniff since Conte came in. Dane Scarlett was sent on loan, while Alfie Devine remains in the 21s and is impressing.

For Craig, it seems like he’s been given the chance to impress. And if he can catch Conte’s eye, then in what is a long season, he might just get his chance at some point.
