‘He doesn’t look fit’: BBC pundit slams one West Ham player for his role against Arsenal today
West Ham battled away against Arsenal today but couldn’t quite deliver enough to see off the Gunners as the top four race took another twist.
After Tottenham won earlier in the day, the pressure was on Arsenal to win out against the Hammers. And in the main, the Gunners handled that pressure well, as goals from Rob Holding and Gabriel put them firmly in control in East London.
For West Ham, it was a bit of a lax performance, albeit understandable, given their efforts in Europe and the fact they have a huge second leg ahead of them coming up. However, despite the busy schedule, former Arsenal and Hammers defender, Matt Upson, was less than impressed with West Ham defender Kurt Zouma.

The Frenchman was nowhere to be seen as Arsena’s Holding headed in the opener, and Upson told the that he believes Zouma didn’t look fit enough.
“It doesn’t surprise me there is a goal from a set piece in this game, but I didn’t think it would come from Arsenal. It is a zonal set up with Lanzini as the blocker, Kurt Zouma needs to head that ball. He doesn’t look fit; he doesn’t attack that at all,” Upson said on .
Arsenal are now in a straight shoot out with Spurs for that fourth spot. Chelsea, meanwhile, are also doing their best to blow it.
TBR’s View: West Ham Defended Poorly All Afternoon
And it was strange to see as well, especially with how vulnerable the Hammers looked on set-pieces. Usually, West Ham are fine and strong in those areas. But today they looked poor and a bit all at sea.
David Moyes will want that addressing ahead of the second leg in Europe. Teams cannot afford to give goals up from set-plays like West Ham did today. Ultimately, you’ll end up being punished.
