Matt O’Riley and Luis Palma blown away by 25-year-old Celtic player’s defending vs Feyenoord
Matt O’Riley and Luis Palma were over the moon last night at Celtic beat Feyenoord in the final Champions League fixture of the season.
The whole team put in a shift but the one that really impressed the Celtic duo was Canadian international, Alistair Johnston.
The 25-year-old fullback was superb as his last-ditch defending in the closing stages ensured Celtic picked up a long-overdue win in the Champions League.
Taking to Instagram, O’Riley, Palma and many more flocked to Johnston’s post to pay tribute to their ‘brilliant‘ teammate:

Alistair Johnston was brilliant for Celtic against Feyenoord
Rated 7.2 by , Johnston had one of his best performances of the season. Defensively, the 25-year-old was brilliant for Celtic last night.
Winning seven of his nine duels, Johnston was a wall in front of the Feyenoord wingers as he made two blocks, four defensive actions and three ball recoveries.

As an attacking fullback, Johnston put in a fine display as he helped Celtic try to break down the Dutch defences.
With a 75% passing accuracy, the Canadian made eight passes into Feyenoord’s final third and had a 100% success rate in dribbling past his opposite number.
It really was a great performance by Johnston and the Celtic fans will be hoping that he now kicks on and find some consistency as the Celtic fixtures continue to come thick and fast.
Next up for Brendan Rodgers is a home tie against Hearts in the Scottish Premiership. After that, it’s Livingston away before the big one against Rangers at Celtic Park.
Taking all nine points will go a long way to convincing the Celtic support that maybe, just maybe, this team is not as bad as they have been showing of late.
