Mats Hummels has decided two clubs he really wants to join after links with West Ham

Mats Hummels has reportedly zoned in on two clubs he wants to sign for this summer after rumoured interest from West Ham.

West Ham are considering a shock move for Hummels after the legendary German defender left Borussia Dortmund this summer as a free agent, with Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle United also linked.

Regarded as one of the best defenders in Europe in the last 15 years, the now 35-year-old centre-back could be about to leave Germany for the first time in his career, with Hummels having plenty of options on the table.

Yet the West Ham-linked veteran has seemingly decided on two clubs he wants to join this summer.

According to , Hummels is keen on joining either AS Roma or AC Milan, with Serie A seemingly where the defender will end up having already turned down an offer from Bologna.

With West Ham yet to make an official move for the centre-back, time is slowly running out for the Irons to bring Hummels to the Premier League, with the east London side already signing the German’s former teammate Niclas Fullkrug.

Indeed, Hummels playing in Serie A at this stage in his career feels suitable given the defender’s incredible quality despite his age, with the centre-back key to Dortmund’s run to the UEFA Champions League final.

Yet for West Ham, they must be doing all they can to bring Hummels to east London this summer, with the former Bayern Munich star a player who could add a lot of value and experience to the Irons’ defence.

Hummels could be outstanding in the Premier League

With Thiago Silva arguably Chelsea’s best players in the last three years despite pushing 40 by the time he left Stamford Bridge, there’s still a place for veteran defenders in the Premier League to shine.

And Hummels could do just that with West Ham if the London Stadium side can strike a deal with the German despite competition from Roma and Milan.

At 35, Hummels is arguably as good as he has ever been after a fantastic year with Dortmund, and for West Ham, the defender could be key in pushing the east London side back into Europe after missing out last season.
