It sounds like he may still be unavailable for Newcastle’s upcoming match against Bournemouth.

However, from what Paul Merson has seen this season, he thinks bigger teams will be after Saint-Maximin.

“Allan Saint-Maximin is a player who has enhanced his reputation this season, but he needs to keep going at it to cement his status as a proven match-winner in the Premier League.”

“If he adds goals and assists to his name consistently, the so-called big teams will definitely be after him.

“That said, he’s already at a massive club and the fans love him, so there’s no need for him to push for a transfer at this point in time.”

Merson think bigger teams will be after Saint-Maximin

The 25-year-old has been one of Newcastle’s best players this season.

Micah Richards has already commented on how his end product is improving, calling him goal against Wolves ‘outstanding’.

Saint-Maximin’s relationship with forward Callum Wilson appears to improve every game.

The Magpies have certainly suffered in the goal scoring department since they both picked up injuries.

It will be interesting to see how Saint-Maximin links up with new signing Alexander Isak.

The Frenchman’s direct running and impeccable technique make him an immediate target for defenders.

His feet are quick enough to still find space to pick out a teammate, and that’s where Newcastle really benefit.

As long as his output keeps improving, bigger teams will eventually be after Saint-Maximin.
