Match of the Day pundit says £5m West Ham player was absolutely ‘brilliant’ vs Aston Villa

Pundit Stephen Warnock has now been complimenting one individual West Ham United performance against Aston Villa yesterday.

Although he was frustrated not to be awarded the win, David Moyesꦇ will surely reflect on two strong performances in the space of four days.

ꦛIf the draw against Burnley was a huge disappointment then a 5-0 drubbing against Freiburg and a good display against Villa should cause reason for optimism.

꧂West Ham were particularly good in the first half yesterday, not allowing Villa space to play through their midfield.

🃏The likes of Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa often dictate the play for Villa at the back, but West Ham’s press was suffocating the away defence on this occasion.

And whilst Stephen Warnock was also impressed with that game plan, he reserved special praise for West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal for his showing against Villa.

𓃲Speaking on , Warnock said that was a constant threat down the right-hand side.

𝄹And it was clear that Moyes’ game plan looked to make the most of the space on the right.

Stephen Warnock loved Vladimir Coufal’s West Ham display against Aston Villa

🥂Warnock mentioned that Coufal was constantly trying to get forward, and it wasn’t without reward.

🤪He explained: “Coufal was a threat all game, the way he plays, the way he gets forward.”

❀He then added regarding his assist: “And it’s Coufal on the right hand side, this Chappers is delightful, this is a striker’s dream.

🍷“[Michail] Antonio hasn’t scored in a long time, I think it was August he last scored, that’s a brilliant ball inviting him to go onto it and get a great header.”

Of course, it seems Michail Antonio🤡 was deliberately deployed in that central role because of space West Ham intended to create on the wings as a result of their pressing.

And although Warnock wasn’t praising Coufal after a West Ham﷽ win against Villa yesterday, the team performance was certainly unrecognisable from the recent display against Arsenal for example.

🐽So although Bayer Leverkusen presents an incredibly tough draw in Europe next month, there’s certainly reason for optimism.

And 💛Ally McCoist has recently been lauding a West Ham attacker for his exciting performances of late.
