‘Massive disappointment’: Chris Sutton now thinks 25-year-old West Ham man has really struggled this season

This season went from bad to worse for West Ham United yesterday, after suffering another defeat.

Daniel Podence’s second-half goal meant the Hammers came away from Molineux empty-handed.

David Moyes has failed to get the best out of his West Ham side this season, despite a number of big signings.

However, Moyes has yet to find the winning formula with a squad that should be performing much better.

West Ham now sit in the relegation zone, and are level on points with bottom of the table Southampton.

Few players have come away from this season with any credit, and Sutton said yesterday that Paqueta has been a real disappointment.

The Brazilian – who starred for his country at the World Cup in Qatar – hasn’t lived up to expectations yet.

He struggled again yesterday, and needs to up his game if he’s going to help West Ham escape the bottom three.

Paqueta has been a disappointment – Sutton

: “[Michail] Antonio just doesn’t look like the player he once was.

“Paqueta’s been a massive disappointment at West Ham.

“When he went there I think there was a lot of excitement, they signed a Brazilian and what have you.

“He’s been really flat and not got on the ball.”

Moyes explained last week that Paqueta is still adapting to the tricky away days in the Premier League.

Antonio previously said this season that Paqueta has to be in the West Ham team given his ability.

The 25-year-old played the entire match yesterday, but struggled against his Wolves counterparts.

, and although he played two key passes, they ultimately came to nothing.

, Paqueta has been a disappointment for West Ham this season.

He still has plenty of time to turn it around, but Hammers fans can’t wait forever for him to find his way in the Premier League.
