‘Massive coup’… Anton Ferdinand urges West Ham to swoop for £15m striker

Anton Ferdinand has urged West Ham United to pull off a “massive coup” in the January transfer window.

The Hammers cult hero, speaking on , believes Serhou Guirassy would be a superb signing for David Moyes‘ team.

West Ham were linked with the high-flying Stuttgart striker ahead of the January transfer window.

However, West Ham and Man United aren’t the Premier League only clubs reportedly eyeing the Guinea international.

The likes of Newcastle and Tottenham are apparently also in pursuit of Guirassy, who has been in fine form this season.

‘Big teams in for this guy’

On the latest episode of FIVE, Ferdinand and his co-hosts discuss a number of current topics including the January transfer window.

Guirassy was one of the first names that came up, and Ferdinand said: “On a serious note, listen, there’s some big teams in for this guy.

“If we was to get him, it would a massive massive coup.”

West Ham really could do with a new centre-forward this month. They didn’t replace Gianluca Scamacca in summer, and Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have been filling the role this term.

With Antonio currently on the sidelines, Bowen is shouldering most of the goalscoring responsibility. While he has done well, a new striker would help lessen the burden on him.
