Martin O’Neill must attempt to bring Ireland favourite James McCarthy to Nottingham Forest
James McCarthy is something of a wanted man this month. Struggling to get back into the Everton fold after a serious leg break last year, the Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a number of clubs.
Most recently, it is Championship sides who have been looking into his signature. Aston Villa and West Brom, are keen on the player. Bournemouth are also keen, whilst Celtic are also said to be keeping track of the situation

Nottingham Forest should now throw their hat in the ring. The Reds have recently appointed Martin O’Neill as their new manager.
The new Forest boss is a huge advocate of the Everton midfielder. He regularly picked him for international action with the Republic of Ireland, seeing him as a vital cog in the national team system.
He even upset Everton and their former boss Ronald Koeman on numerous occasions, picking him when the midfielder was deemed unfit by his club.
Nottingham Forest are not particularly stretched at central midfield. However, O’Neill will want to put his own stamp on the team and bringing in a firm favourite of his in McCarty would immediately get his ideas across at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest should undoubtedly be in the hunt for 41-cap international.
