Martin Keown says something ‘ridiculous’ happened during Arsenal v Nottingham Forest last night
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has described the build-up to Gabriel Jesus’ opener against Nottingham Forest as “ridiculous”.
The Highbury icon, speaking on , could barely believe the hosts’ defending against the Gunners for their breakthrough.
Arsenal needed some time to wear down the Forest defence at the City Ground, but they were effectively handed their opener on a silver platter.
Oleksandr Zinchenko weighed in with a quick throw-in, which Gabriel Jesus took in his stride past two Forest defenders.

From a very tight angle right on the byline, the 26-year-old poked the ball through the legs of Matt Turner at the near post.
Keown was stunned at how Jesus was allowed to cut through the Forest back line and slot home with so little opposition.
“How has Jesus got that kind of space? It’s really ridiculous,” he said.
“(Gonzalo) Montiel is a World Cup winner but why does he leave Jesus? He runs past him.
“Jesus is all on his own and (Andrew) Omobamidele should go across. He’s a young defender but I just don’t get it.
“In the end the goalkeeper should do better, it’s a bit of a nightmare for him.”
Arsenal dominate but are forced to hold on for victory at Nottingham Forest
Arsenal dominated proceedings in the East Midlands but in the end they had to hold on for victory.
The Gunners went on to add a second on 72 minutes as Bukayo Saka finished off a great counter-attack with help from Jesus and Martin Odegaard.
Forest offered little and it looked like Arsenal could’ve gone on to add more, but instead they were sucker-punched by a goal out of nowhere.
The hosts halved the deficit late on as Taiwo Awoniyi got the better of William Saliba and pounced on the loose ball to blast past David Raya.
However, Arsenal shut up shop and managed to hold on for victory, securing three crucial points that moved them two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.
