Martin Keown says Arsenal have a 22-year-old who ‘can go right to the top’

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has described Gunners star Bukayo Saka as a “top quality” player who “can go right to the top”.

Keown spoke about the Arsenal attacker on following Rio Ferdinand‘s recent comments about the Gunners ace.

Ferdinand, speaking on , described Saka as “unreal”, but said he’s not ready to label him “world-class” just yet.

“He hasn’t done it in the Champions League, has he? I’m talking in the nitty-gritty stages,” said Ferdinand. “Saka’s top, don’t get me wrong. He’s not world-class yet.”

Ferdinand’s comments have amongst Arsenal fans online.

Some agree with what he said (namely that he’s getting there but not fully in that bracket) and others, not so much.

Keown was asked what he thought of Saka’s current status as a player, namely whether he already can be deemed world-class or not.

“He’s top quality,” replied the Arsenal icon. “Let me tell you, he can go right to the top.

“At the end of his career is when we should be talking about ‘was he a great player, was he world-class?’

“I think it’s far too soon for that. It’s all in front of him.”

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka not far off ‘world-class’ status

Keown’s opinion on Saka’s current position in the world game is along the lines of Ferdinand’s opinion, namely that it’s too soon to deem him ‘world-class’, effectively a 10/10.

Saka is certainly an outstanding player. He has 210 Arsenal outings under his belt and one goal contribution every two games in red and white. For England, he has 32 caps, 11 goals and eight assists.

To achieve this at 22 years of age is remarkable. And people will have different opinions on the matter, but if he’s not world-class yet, he’s very much on the verge. of it A 9/10, maybe even a 9.5/10.
