Martin Keown says Arsenal coaches have been blown away by 19-year-old talent

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has praised Hale End ace Miguel Azeez, saying Gunners coaches rate him very highly.

The 19-year-old is a dynamic midfielder equally skilled as an anchorman as he is playing at No. 10.

He is also viewed as a natural leader and captain material.

Azeez was playing for Arsenal’s Under-18s when he was 15 and didn’t look out of his depth at all.

He developed so well as a player and leader that, by the time he was 17, he was captaining the team.

Azeez was in and around the first team last season.

He made his senior debut in December’s Europa League win over Dundalk.

Last summer, Arsenal sent Azeez out on loan to Portsmouth.

However, the teenager made just 10 appearances for the club, prompting the Gunners to him.

Arsenal opted to activate a recall clause to end Azeez’s scheduled season-long stay.

Keown commented on the young talent on talkSPORT.

“They’re taking Azeez back from Portsmouth,” Keown said on air (14/1/22, 12pm).

“A young player I know behind the scenes they think is an outstanding talent.”

It’s a shame how Azeez’s loan spell at Pompey went, but that’s how it is sometimes.

Will Arsenal send him to a different club to gain experience? We’ll find out over the next fortnight.
