Martin Kelly’s new Crystal Palace contract represents smart business for the club

On ♍Friday, Martin Kelly signed a contract extension that keeps him at Crystal Palace until 2021.

The adaptable defender is far from a consistent starter at Selhurst Park, but Kelly’s reliability and flexibility ma🎃ke him a key part of Roy Hodgson’s set-up — the fresh extension is a smart piece of bus♐iness from the Eagles.

Once a promising youngster for Liverpool, Kelly joined Crystal Palace in 2014🍌 and has gone on to make ov✃er 110 appearances for the club since.

Predominantly a centre-half this season, Kelly has also filled in at right and left back when called upon, and al💎ways plays with passion and i👍ntensity.

With 11 total appearances this campaign, Kelly has been an ever-pr🉐esent of Palace’s impressive FA Cup run, playing three times as the Eagles༺ have kept three straight clean sheets.

Kelly’s five league appearances have also brought success, as the defender ꦐrecently contributed to Decembꦍer’s 1-0 win over Leicester City and February’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

Every s꧅ide needs a player like Martin Kelly: a more than capable back-up who will always give his all when called upon in the starting lineup. Crystal Palace’s decision to extend his deal is yet another example of how well the club is run and will prove to be an astute call.
