Marsch lauds how well Robin Koch has trained for Leeds lately
Jesse Marsch has suggested that Robin Koch deserves more game-time for Leeds United than he has received based on the way he has trained lately.
Koch has not started any of Leeds’ last three games in the Premier League. He did come off the bench against Norwich as Marsch tried to see the game out, and against Wolves due to injuries.

The Germany international however, was an unused substitute against Southampton last weekend. Perhaps surprisingly, it was the first time this season that Koch has been on the bench and failed to come on in the top-flight.
He now faces a battle to get into the side, with Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips recently returning. But Marsch has insisted that his effort at Thorp Arch is not going unnoticed when asked about how important performances in training are to his team selections.

“Koch has performed very well in training but he hasn’t been rewarded with decisions on the matchday. But I’m very much aware that if we need him on game day, that his performance [in training] mean something,” he said, in his .
Robin Koch situation highlights nice problem Marsch now has at Leeds
It is easy to forget just how difficult a season it has been for Leeds. They have lost almost every player in the squad due to injury at some stage, it seems.
Marcelo Bielsa had to pack his bench with under-23s earlier in the campaign. And it seemed massive whenever a senior option became available.
Leeds now however, are starting to get more and more of their players back. And Marsch was able to name Koch, Pascal Struijk, Phillips and Joe Gelhardt on the bench against the Saints on Saturday.
The fact that Koch cannot get into the side right now says more about the depth Leeds are starting to have at centre-back, rather than the defender’s quality.
He may have to bide his time. But based on the luck Leeds have had this term, you would imagine that Koch’s chance may be just around the corner.
Marsch is clearly confident that he would be ready to take it.
