Mark Lawrenson predicts West Ham vs Everton result

Mark Lawrenson that he expects West Ham to beat Everton 2-0 when they meet on Sunday after their improved display last time out.

David Moyes’s men remain in the mix for a top four spot. They got back to winning ways at the start of the week as they beat Burnley at Turf Moor.

They played some scintillating football at times and now find themselves three points behind Chelsea with four games remaining.

The first of those pits Moyes against his former club. It has been a bizarre time for the Toffees, with just one win coming in their last eight games.

Admittedly, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have taken 10 points from their last five away fixtures. Nevertheless, Lawrenson believes that West Ham will take the spoils.

“West Ham were very impressive when they beat Burnley last weekend,” , as he predicted a 2-0 win for the Hammers. “I thought they were tailing off a bit after losing their previous two games, but they looked really strong at Turf Moor.

“Everton are much better on the road than they are at home but I think they are in for a difficult day in east London.

“The Hammers beat them at Goodison Park in January and I am expecting them to do the same at London Stadium on Sunday.”

Everton, of course, are not out of the running for the European spots. They boast a game in hand over many of the sides above them.

So they still have plenty to play for. Another defeat would surely rule them out of the mix to play in Europe next year.

But West Ham will take a lot of confidence from their most recent performance. And Lawrenson clearly feels that that will get them across the line.
