Mark Lawrenson predicts Spurs vs Manchester United result
Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to get back to winning ways on Sunday, that he is expecting Jose Mourinho’s men to secure a 2-1 victory.
Spurs are actually just three points off the top four. However, confidence in North London appears to be low after a frustrating draw at Newcastle last week.

Two goals stemming from a catalogue of defensive mistakes denied Tottenham the win. And it was a result that added to the pressure on Mourinho.
Their next game pits Spurs against Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have now won their last three in the league.

But Lawrenson backed Tottenham to complete the double over United when they meet in the capital this weekend.
“When Tottenham beat Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford on 4 October, it wasn’t even the craziest result of the day – that was Villa’s 7-2 win over Liverpool,” , as he predicted a 2-1 win.
“I’m not expecting the same kind of scoreline this time – since that game, United have really tightened up against other teams in the top six – but I’m still going for another Spurs win.
“A draw is not much good to Jose Mourinho’s side after they dropped points against Newcastle last week, and we might just see a reaction to his comments about their poor defensive display at St James’ Park.”
It would be a huge boost for Spurs to get the three points. Not only do they need some momentum in the battle for the top four, but they also have the Carabao Cup final ahead later this month.
Mourinho has a real point to prove ahead of the summer. At this stage, it would arguably be a big gamble to stick by the Portuguese heading into next season.
But if he can deliver a top four finish and maybe a piece of silverware, Spurs may ultimately feel that this season can be deemed a success – despite the drama.
