Mark Lawrenson predicts Spurs vs Aston Villa result
Mark Lawrenson that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to beat Aston Villa on Wednesday, claiming that Spurs should be able to take advantage of a leaky Villa defence.
Ryan Mason’s men have kept their slim top four hopes alive on Sunday as they beat Wolves. What was particularly encouraging was that they produced a much better display after a hugely disappointing defeat the previous week.
Villa meanwhile, saw their winless run extended to three games at the weekend. Dean Smith’s men led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining against Crystal Palace.
However, Palace scored twice to snatch the three points. And Lawrenson suggested that he expects the Villans to also be left empty-handed when they face Tottenham.
“Tottenham’s home form has held up over the past few weeks, but they are not going to get in the Champions League from here,” , as he predicted Mason’s side to win 2-1.
“Spurs should be able to get at Villa, who let another lead slip at Crystal Palace on Sunday and seem to be leaking more goals at the moment.”
It has been a poor end to what threatened to be an amazing season for Villa. They have won just two of the 12 games they have contested since the start of March.
Villa are now four points off a top-half spot.
Spurs still have a chance to end the year on a high. They have a good opportunity to secure European football for next term.
And with a new manager set to come in, they may go into next season with fresh optimism.
