Marcelo Bielsa responds when asked about Leeds-linked Michael Cuisance
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa was asked about reported target Michael Cuisance in his Thursday press conference, but he explained he didn’t want to talk about him until he signs and was hoping not to jinx the deal.
Bayern Munich youngster Cuisance, 21, has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road in recent days.
The claimed on Tuesday that Leeds had agreed an £18million deal with German champions Bayern for the midfielder and that he was travelling to England on Wednesday ahead of a medical.
It was reported that Bayern have negotiated a buy-back clause in the deal and that he will sign a five-year contract.
Bielsa was cautious in his interview to speak about Cuisance and referenced the infamous Dan James incident.
Leeds were inches away from signing attacker James when he was at Swansea City in January 2019, but the move collapsed and he joined Manchester United in the summer.
The explained at the time that James’ transfer failed in the final minutes of the January window, despite the fact he had passed a medical and a £10million deal had been agreed.
“I would prefer to talk about him when he is officially our player. I don’t want to repeat the case of Dan James,” Bielsa responded when asked about Cuisance’s ability, as quoted by

TBR’s View:
Cuisance’s transfer to Leeds is reportedly imminent, but it’s so often the way now that managers refuse to discuss the topic until everything is officially confirmed by the club.
Cuisance is a highly-rated central midfielder that is on the verge of being another top signing for the Yorkshire club and they are showing real intent this summer following promotion to the Premier League.
He’s going to bolster the options in the centre of the park and his £18million cost suggests they are expecting big things from him.
