Marcelo Bielsa hails Dominic Calvert-Lewin after win over Everton
Everton suffered defeat in the Premier League this weekend, losing 1-0 to Leeds United at Goodison Park after a drilled finish from Raphinha settled a tight and exciting fixture.
It was a game in which Everton also had plenty of chances but could not find the goal needed to prevent defeat.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for example, could not find the back of the net, despite his excellent form for the club so far this season.
But speaking after the game, it is clear that Calvert-Lewin has something of an admirer in the shape of Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

“It’s not easy to neutralise him,” Bielsa said of Calvert-Lewin, “The whole team made a big effort defensively to stop him, especially out centre-backs against him. But he had chances to score and we worked so that the opportunities he had on goal would be difficult ones. But nonetheless, he was a player who was as dangerous as he usually is.”
Leeds did a fairly good job keeping Calvert-Lewin under control, although the England international did have a couple of chances to find the back of the net.
However, Everton’s striker is clearly picking up an increasingly impressive reputation.
There’s no wonder why he would be so impressive to Bielsa. Not only has DCL been scoring goals in 2020 but he is also a tireless worker who puts enormous pressure on opposing defenders – similar in style to Leeds United striker and Bielsa favourite Patrick Bamford.
Everton fans will just hope that Calvert-Lewin can continue to build his reputation and have other top coaches singing his praises this season.
