Marcelo Bielsa comments on Leeds link with Southampton striker Che Adams

Marcelo Bielsa has told his pre-Sheffield Wednesday press conference – – that Leeds United are looking to sign a striker as soon as possible, and responded to a question about Southampton star Che Adams.

that Leeds are keen to bring 23-year-old striker Adams to Elland Road, but Southampton are keen to keep their summer signing despite the former Birmingham City star failing to score since his move.

Leeds are after a striker following Arsenal’s decision to cut Eddie Nketiah’s season-long loan short. It leaves the Whites with just Patrick Bamford up front, and Adams has been linked. Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp is also being considered.

“We need one striker as soon as possible,” “I don’t like to make reference about options when we don’t know if they are going to come, Bamford and Nketiah have a lot of common points between them.

“A player with those characteristics and when you look at those two players you can imagine which sort of player we are expecting to arrive.”

Adams starred for Birmingham last season prompting a move to the Premier League with Southampton in the summer. The powerhouse netted 22 goals in 46 Championship games, but has failed to score in 18 appearances for the Saints.

Leeds remain top of the Championship on goal difference ahead of West Bromwicn Albion, and play host to Garry Monk’s Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. A win could see them go 12 points clear of third place.
