Marcel Sabitzer lauds Harry Kane as ‘one of the best’ amid reported Tottenham interest
Marcel Sabitzer has lauded Harry Kane – via the – as being among the best strikers in the world amid reports linking the RB Leipzig midfielder with Tottenham Hotspur.
Sabitzer will face Kane on Wednesday when Austria play England in a pre-tournament friendly as a warm-up for Euro 2020. Both will feature at the European Championship after being named in Franco Foda and Gareth Southgate’s squads respectively.
The competition could be a final chance for Tottenham to scout Sabitzer before launching a bid to sign the playmaker. in March cited Spurs as one of three Premier League clubs who are keen on the 27-year-old.

However, Leipzig value Sabitzer at €42million (£36m) despite his contract expiring in 2022. He also has no intentions of renewing his deal with the Bundesliga outfit and wants to test himself in England.

“He scored over 20 goals and over 10 assists, so I do know what qualities he has, and he can get something out of any situation. We have to be ready against him. He is one of the best strikers in the world.”
TBR’s view: Tottenham may need Kane to sign Sabitzer
Sabitzer singing Kane’s praises may prick Daniel Levy’s ears should Tottenham retain any interest in a potential summer transfer. The Spurs Chairman can use the allure of playing alongside the England captain in negotiations to fend off rival pursuits.
But Levy must first convince Kane to stay in north London before using the forward as bait for Sabitzer. Although the two matters could help the other. Kane is determined to leave as he fears Spurs do not have the funds to compete for trophies ().
Signing Sabitzer would go a long way to proving to Kane that Levy can make Tottenham title contenders. The Austrian offered last season as he led Leipzig to the Champions League Last 16. And he will not come cheap no matter how hard Levy tries.
