Marc Guehi shares what he really thinks about Chelsea after claims he could re-sign for the Blues from Crystal Palace
Chelsea need a new centre-back in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have defensive problems at the moment, and one way to address those issues is to add more quality to the backline.
Ian Wright says Chelsea need a new centre-back, and the Blues are looking at addressing that situation.
Ronald Araujo has been linked to Chelsea, while Marc Guehi has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge too.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, Guehi has been discussing Chelsea and reflecting on his spell at the club as a young player.
The centre-back says that he still has a soft spot for the Blues after spending 13 years of his life there, but, interestingly, he no longer considers Stamford Bridge home.

Marc Guehi shares his thoughts on Chelsea
Guehi spoke about his time at Chelsea, and he reflected positively on his time in west London.
These comments come amid rumours that Guehi could be re-signing for Chelsea in the summer.
“You spoke about how a lot went through your mind when you left Chelsea, does Chelsea still feel like home to some level? Obviously Palace is home now, but is there a special place with Chelsea for you?” Guehi was asked.
“Yeah it’s definitely somewhere that had a massive part in my upbringing being there for so long. I was there for 13 years of my life. I don’t know if it’s home anymore. But I’m glad and grateful for them for all that they gave me. Palace is home now, I’m really enjoying it, the club have been amazing and the fans have been great with me,” Guehi said.
Players who have re-signed for Chelsea
Guehi has been linked with a Chelsea return, and he wouldn’t be the first player to come back to Stamford Bridge for a second spell.
Indeed, Chelsea have an interesting history of re-signing former players, and, quite often, these moves work out well.
Players to have re-signed for Chelsea | Year left | Year re-signed |
---|---|---|
Romelu Lukaku | 2014 | 2021 |
Didier Drogba | 2012 | 2014 |
Nemanja Matic | 2011 | 2014 |
David Luiz | 2014 | 2016 |
Graeme Le Saux | 1993 | 1997 |
Nemanja Matic was brilliant during his second spell at Chelsea, while David Luiz won the Premier League upon his return to west London.
However, sometimes these moves don’t quite go to plan.
Romelu Lukaku was heavily criticised during his second spell at Chelsea, and Guehi would be desperate to not follow Lukaku’s path if he were to head back to the Blues.
Tottenham bid for Guehi towards the end of the summer transfer window, so perhaps the Crystal Palace star could head to Spurs instead this summer.
Guehi is likely to be on the move at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see where the England star ends up.
