Marc Guehi says Chelsea have a top talent in their ranks for whom ‘the sky’s the limit’

Chelsea are in a season of transition at present and there’s certainly plenty of cause for optimism going forward.

The Blues’ form has wobbled somewhat in recent weeks, but they hammered Southampton in midweek to keep their top-four hopes alive.

In addition, Chelsea have a talented squad full of young players who could form the spine of a Blues team challenging for top honours in years to come.

Now, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has singled out one of Chelsea’s young talents as a player with an incredibly bright future.

Marc Guehi says the sky’s the limit for Chelsea ace Levi Colwill

The player in question is Levi Colwill, a player for whom “the sky is the limit”, according to Guehi.

Guehi was the latest guest on Sky Sports show The Sticker Book Challenge, where he was asked about a number of his peers from past and present.

When it came to the most promising defender currently in the game, Guehi had to pick between Colwill, Dean Huijsen, Leny Yoro and Pau Cubarsi.

“They all have top futures because they’re all top players,” began Guehi, before opting for Colwill.

“I’ll go for Levi just because I know him,” he said. “I’ve known him and I’ve been around him and I know what he’s capable of.

“Honestly the sky is limit for him, so yeah I’m going to go Levi.”

Whether Marc Guehi could partner Levi Colwill in the Chelsea defence

Guehi spent 12 years on the books at Chelsea as he rose through the academy ranks, but left having only made two competitive senior appearances for the Blues.

Since swapping Chelsea for Palace in 2021, Guehi has gone from strength to strength and is now a fully-fledged Premier League star and an England international.

Guehi has been linked with a Chelsea return, with Ian Wright saying Chelsea need a new centre-back, and the Blues could possibly act in the summer.

However, Guehi himself has said he doesn’t know whether he still considers Chelsea as “home” any more.

Tottenham bid for Guehi towards the end of the summer transfer window, so Chelsea would have ample competition for his services.
