Manuel Pellegrini very happy with West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson
Manuel Pellegrini has shared his delight over the performances of West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson during his first season in English football.
The Hammers boss has kept the 25-year-old as a regular in his team and he’s missed just one Premier League game.
Anderson arrived at the London Stadium for a club record fee of £36million () in the summer from Lazio and has a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
The Brazil international has made 36 appearances so far this campaign, scoring nine times and supplying five assists.
He’s a left-winger that is blessed with great pace and trickery, but manager Pellegrini has hailed his overall work-rate too and his influence on the team.
“From the very beginning, Felipe has reacted very well to being here. He is a player who works a lot during the entire game, and can make a real difference to things in the last third,”
“He can score goals too, so I’m very happy and I know all the fans are also very happy with the contribution he has made to the team.”
TBR’s View:
Anderson is perhaps just below the bracket of an elite player because of his inconsistency, but there is no doubting his technical ability on the ball.
The South American flyer caused Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta problems in the last game and can be a nightmare for defenders one-on-one.
He needs to fix his current goalscoring issue, as he’s not managed to find the back of the net in the league since December when he scored twice against Southampton.
Anderson should be given a second season to really see if he can hit top gear and he should be much improved after an entire year in England.
