Manuel Pellegrini hails West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has heaped huge amounts of praise on goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

The 34-year-old won the club’s player of the year last season for his brilliant displays in net and is continuing in the same vein this term.

After a nightmare start to the campaign for the Hammers with a 5-0 defeat to Manchester City, they have responded by going five games in the league unbeaten and currently sit fifth in the table.

Fabianski has kept three consecutive clean sheets in goal and is proving extremely difficult to beat.

The Poland international was signed for £7million () from Swansea City in 2018 and he’s turned out to be an incredible bargain.

He is a shot-stopper with incredible reflexes and is a big presence in goal, while he’s comfortable with the ball at his feet too.

Pellegrini has delivered a glowing verdict of his number one and detailed the serious training work he does off the pitch.

“I think maybe, last season, he was one of the best goalkeepers. If not the best, then one of the best goalkeepers,”

“This season, he is continuing with the same performance. He is a serious player that works very hard in every training session. There’s a lot of reasons but, most importantly, he’s a very good goalkeeper and his performances are very good.

TBR’s View:

West Ham travel to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League and Fabianski could have a sizeable job on his hands keeping out the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King.

But it does help that the goalkeeper has a solid defence in front of him, with Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna striking up a decent combination at centre-back in recent weeks.

There is a belief that the Hammers can push for a European spot this campaign and there defence is no doubt going to have a huge say on if that is possible.
