Manchester United will ‘cut ties’ with their 27-year-old player after this season

Manchester United will not exercise their option to buy Sofyan Amrabat at the end of this season.

The Red Devils are expected to undergo several changes in the coming months following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival. Manchester United have a lot of planning to do, but journalist Dean Jones has claimed that a decision on Amrabat has already been made.

Manchester United will ‘cut ties’ with Sofyan Amrabat in the summer

Manchester United were desperate to sign Sofyan Amrabat in the summer, weren’t they?

The Red Devils were linked with a move to get him for months, but it was only on transfer deadline day that a deal was sealed.

Fiorentina agreed a season-long loan deal for a fee of £8.5 million, and Manchester United were given the option to make the move permanent for £21.4 million in the summer ().

Everyone was excited to see what Amrabat would do at Manchester United following all the hype he came in with. Sadly, the move has backfired.

Amrabat has been terrible for the Red Devils, and Dean Jones has now claimed that United will send him back to Fiorentina in the summer.

He told : “Manchester United must be very relieved they do not have an obligation to buy Amrabat because the move has just not worked out at all, and they will cut ties on this one without any regrets.

“It was such a protracted transfer and there was so much expectation around him fixing a major problem within the side, but we just have not seen that play out.

“As such, his chances of earning a permanent deal are pretty much zero.”

Amrabat hasn’t been good enough

Sofyan Amrabat became the talk of the town after his performances in the World Cup in Qatar.

The Moroccan was absolutely sensational, and Manchester United’s interest in him probably began after watching him back then.

Since moving to Old Trafford, however, the 27-year-old has looked nothing like the man we saw in Qatar. He has really struggled in the middle of the park, and it is clear that he’s not good enough to play for a top club in the Premier League.

If Jones’ update really is true, Manchester United are doing the right thing by letting him go back to Florence in the summer.
