Manchester United: Schweinsteiger reveals future; shock signing reported; 16-year-old sensation tracked
There could be one of the most shocking moves in Premier League history if the is correct in its report that Mario Balotelli has been offered to Manchester United as Liverpool desperately seek to get rid of the controversial Italian. Jurgen Klopp has told him that he has no future at Anfield, and with Balotelli enjoying a good relationship with Jose Mourinho and his agent Mino Raiola feeling that the club owe him having helped to secure the signings of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, it could not be as crazy as it first seems.
Having previously played for Manchester City and Liverpool, it is hard to imagine a player with a worse history to sign for the Red Devils, but then you have to remember the various incidents involving fireworks, red cards and not a lot of goals in the past few seasons. Balotelli would come cheap, especially given that no club seems to want to take him, with Sion, Wolves and even Port Vale the latest to be linked, but the club are in no desperate need of another forward. Unless Raiola forces Mourinho into the move, it seems unlikely. Normally, you could say that stranger things have happened, but we’re not sure they have in this case.
Another player with a worldwide reputation who has been ditched by his club is Bastian Schweinsteiger, who spoke out on to confirm that United will be his last club in Europe. That sparked speculation as to what lies ahead for the German, with his future still hugely uncertain with only a week to go as the 32-year-old nears the end of his career.
Leaving Europe would most likely mean a move to the MLS or Chinese leagues, but with the Chinese transfer window having closed over a month ago and MLS season nearing its climax, neither would suggest an imminent move. That could mean that Schweinsteiger will remain at the club until Christmas to make a move, though United are unlikely to be fans of such a suggestion given his reported wages of £180,000 a week, with him currently training with the club’s under 23 side and not given a look in for the first team. Time will tell for Schweinsteiger, but the club will be seeking a solution sooner rather than later.
At the other end of his career is Fulham’s 16-year-old sensation Ryan Sessegnon, who the claim is being monitored by the Red Devils. The left-back has already smashed records, becoming the Championship’s youngest ever player and then youngest ever goalscorer in the space of a week as the England under 17s star has made an immediate impact at Craven Cottage.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are also believed to be tracking the Fulham defender, but his club have made it clear that he is not currently for sale. It seems that a move may come too soon for him this window, but he is certainly one that all big clubs will be keeping an eye on as he progresses and seeks to establish himself this season, with the interest unlikely to fade anytime soon.
