have reported that Manchester United are having reservations about re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo as the club don’t want to become involved in the media frenzy around the saga.

Ronaldo has been strongly linked with the Red Devils and suggested the Real Madrid man had told his agent, Jorge Mendes, to ‘do everything possible’ to seal a return to his former club.

A Ronaldo reunion now seems unlikely, yet, Nemanja Matic of Chelsea could rejoin former boss Mourinho at the club this summer. The outlet suggested that Matic, unlike Ronaldo, does feature on Mourinho’s long list of transfer targets. If the Chelsea man joined, he would provide defensive support to allow Paul Pogba to flourish offensively.

Ibrahimovic has been released by United after suffering a long-term knee injury and has been linked with many clubs, including Serie A giants, Napoli. However, Raiola has ruled out a move to the Italian club. He said: “Napoli? Everything is possible, but I think Napoli will not be his next club.”

The superstar agent, whose client is using United’s training complex for rehabilitation, also suggested a return to Manchester United wasn’t impossible, as Ibrahimovic feels he will be fit and ready to contribute to the team by November. This opens up the possibility of the Red Devils offering the 35-year-old a short-term deal, according to the .
