Manchester United round-up: £62m bid for PSG star; new signing reportedly close; Darmian targeted

Brazilian outlet  have reported that Manchester United have made a £62 million bid for Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos. It appears that Jose Mourinho is keen to build on the purchase of  Victor Lindelof, who arrived from Benfica earlier in the window.

According to reports, United’s offer is the highest the French club have received for their centre-back, who gained a large amount of game time this season after David Luiz departure from the club.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are also interested, but PSG are remaining calm as Marquinhos is contracted until 2019 and the defender is cautious of a move, knowing that he needs plenty of minutes to ensure he is involved in Brazil’s World Cup squad ahead of next summer’s tournament in Russia.

Another Ligue 1 player that United have made a move for is Monaco midfielder Fabinho. According to , the Red Devils have agreed a fee of £30.8 million (35 million euros) with up to £4.4 million (5 million euros) performance-related payments. After such a stellar season in France, this signing represents huge value for money, with the Brazilian yet to enter his peak at 23 years of age, while already looking impressive.

Personal terms are reported to already have been agreed and Fabinho, who has been followed by Inter Milan and Juventus, is expected to be announced soon, according to the . Fabinho scored nine times in 37 league appearances from central midfield last season and is also able to play at right-back.

With Fabinho, who can play in defence, arriving, United may lose Matteo Darmian, after  reported that the Italian champions Juventus are interested in signing him.

The Champions League runners-up are looking for a replacement for Dani Alves, who is expected to join his former boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Juventus have sounded out Darmian as their main target but are also looking at Real Madrid’s Danilo and Monaco’s Fabinho – who, as previously mentioned, could be on the verge of joining United.

Darmian joined the Red Devils two seasons ago and has failed to claim a starting spot. He only began a Premier League game 15 times last season but made 39 appearances in total, including a full 90 minutes in the Europa League final victory against Ajax.
