Manchester United reportedly in pole position to secure Allegri’s services
According to Italian publication , Manchester United are apparently in pole position to secure the services of manager Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian manager is currently on a sabbatical, but has a preference to return to work in the Old Trafford dug out.
What’s more, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is struggling to restore the Red Devils to their former glory. The club are currently ninth in the Premier League. On top of that, the Norwegian coach has no proven pedigree as a manager at the top of the game. Allegri, meanwhile, won five consecutive Serie A titles in his time in charge of Juventus. He also took the club to two Champions League finals.

If Allegri truly is open to taking the job, then Manchester United would be wise to part ways with Solskjaer at the end of the season and offer the Italian the role. Whilst Allegri’s sides are not renowned for playing the most attractive, free-flowing football, his pragmatic approach is effective. His CV certainly suggests that he has what it takes to make Manchester United contenders for major titles again.
The Red Devils must act fast if they want to make a move for Allegri though. Sport Mediaset also state that PSG are keen admirers of the 52-year-old. AC Milan and Roma are also credited with an interest. Sport Mediaset, though, stress that Old Trafford would be Allegri’s preferred destination.
