Manchester United ready to step up pursuit of £55m player Arsenal have wanted for ages
Manchester United’s pursuit of new signings could lead them to joining the chase for Spanish midfielder, Martin Zubimendi.
Zubimendi is a wanted man in some of Europe’s top leagues and clubs have been watching him for some time.
Over in England, Arsenal are known to be admirers, with their interest stretching back even further than just the last few transfer windows.
Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Zubimendi just this week.
And journalist Dean Jones has now suggested the Spaniard is very much someone the Red Devils will look to get involved in signing.

Speaking for , Jones had the following to say about Zubimendi and United’s interest.
“There’s not really any part of the squad that is not under examination right now as they look towards the summer. The one we’ve probably read the most about and heard the most about is the centre back and they will bring in at least one centre back, that will be true. But then also the centre of their midfield will change. They have got a few names already. Four or five names, to be honest, that they’re continuing to explore for the midfield. I think that they’ll also get involved in conversations around players like Zubimendi, who they have a level of interest in. I think they might even step that up as we get through the season. And then, of course, the attack. They’re certainly looking for a player to come in there, probably a wide player of serious substance,” Jones
A star of the future
Zubimendi is believed to have a release clause in the region of and it’s little wonder that Real Sociedad value him so highly.
For a team like Manchester United, sorting out their midfield is absolutely key for the future.
The likes of Casemiro are struggling and there’s even suggestions he could be sold now Jim Ratcliffe is overseeing a few things.
Zubimendi, meanwhile, is a player who has huge potential to go and be one of the very best in Europe.
Indeed, even the famed Fabrizio Romano has dubbed Zubimendi as a ‘special‘ talent and one to very much watch in the future.
United, then, could land themselves a real gem if they can get this one over the line ahead of the rest.
