Manchester United player told he put in an ‘absolute shift’ despite Nottingham Forest defeat
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United tasted defeat against Nottingham Forest to put a dent in the new manager bounce many had hoped for.
Forest climbed into fifth with a well-deserved win and after going 3-1 up via a sloppy Chris Wood goal, they held on despite a Marcus Rashford goal getting United back into things.
For Ruben Amorim, there is so much to work on and think about and he’ll already be looking towards the January window and the summer in terms of improvements.
Ultimately, it just wasn’t good enough for United who now sit in the bottom half.
Of course, Amorim is learning a lot about his team already and it’s abundantly clear that Bruno Fernandes is going to be key.
Fernandes was actually taken off by Amorim as United chased the game but rather than it be for being poor, former England Women’s player Izzy Christiansen suggested it was more to do with the huge shift the midfielder put in.

Bruno Fernandes earns praise as Manchester United lose to Nottingham Forest
Commenting on the performance of Fernandes for , Christiansen spoke on Amorim taking the skipper off and insisted that others needed to step up for United.
“Bruno Fernandes has put in an absolute shift, he’s been everywhere. Ruben Amorim has seen in his first few games how big Bruno Fernandes is to this system and has to protect him,” Christiansen said.
“Amorim needs to give other players the chance to be the hero, it can’t always be Fernandes.”
Fernandes will be fuming
Bruno Fernandes wears his heart on his sleeve and he won’t be happy at being taken off and he won’t be happy at what his teammates producing either.
United are once again in a massive period of change but the negativity around the club does not seem to be going away, with complaints about Jim Ratcliffe already creeping in.
The United fans have been patient for years with the club but results like this set them back time and time again.
Fernandes will rightly be annoyed and it will be interesting to hear his post-match thoughts.
