Manchester United more likely to sign £17m forward despite Tottenham making contact
Tottenham have now been handed some disappointing news after the initial excitement of enquiring about a top European forward.
Despite rumours that Spurs have made contact for a signing, sources in Italy now believe Manchester United are better placed to snatch the player from Tottenham.
So, what is the situation? Let’s take a look…
Manchester United more likely to sign Federico Chiesa than Tottenham
An update from Italian journalist now states that Manchester United are the most likely Premier League club to sign Juventus No.7 Federico Chiesa this summer.
It comes despite the fact Tottenham have enquired about the Italy international – according to .
Many clubs have sat up and taken notice of Chiesa’s situation this summer, as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Juventus.
A story from Italian news outlet recently claimed that Juventus are willing to sell the 26-year-old for just £17m this summer, as he has made it clear he will not sign a new contract.

Chiesa endured a tough 2023/24 campaign – by his lofty standards – scoring ten goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, while also being knocked out of UEFA Euro 2024 at the Round of 16 stage by Switzerland.
Nevertheless, the man from Genova remains a quality player – one who has simply began to stagnate at Juventus – so a fresh start could do him good.
Spurs have to act
Ceccarini does not exactly state why Manchester United are most likely to sign Chiesa – presumably, the Red Devils are prepared to offer the best financial package.
Whatever the reason, Tottenham have to act, as this £17m opportunity could prove to be the bargain of the summer.
Chiesa – who has been compared to Luis Suarez – was tipped to become the best player in Europe one day by former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli, who told La Nazione in 2020: “Chiesa must specialise in what he feels is his natural tactical position. If he does this, he will become the best player in Europe.”

Sometimes, a footballer just needs a fresh start elsewhere, so whoever lands the Juventus No.7 this summer will be getting themselves a top player, who could quite feasibly rip up the Premier League.

Therefore, Tottenham must fight tooth and nail to fend off Manchester United, or else Ange Postecoglou could live to regret it.
