Manchester United fans react to Leeds star’s display at Tottenham
The performance of Daniel James in Leeds United’s defeat to Tottenham on Sunday certainly caught the eye of a number of Manchester United supporters on Twitter.
Of course, much of the conversation amongst the Old Trafford faithful over the weekend centred around the news that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left the club.
But it was also significant because it saw James score his first goal as a Leeds player.
James was Solskjaer’s first signing following his appointment in 2019. And remarkably, he has proved to be the last player sold during the Norwegian’s time in charge.
Manchester United fans rarely saw the best of James. So they appeared to have few problems with the club deciding to let him join Leeds in the summer.
However, they now appear to be questioning why exactly James never quite lived up to expectations following his bright start to life at Elland Road.
He has produced a number of impressive performances. His pressing ability has certainly made him an incredibly valuable member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
And he has now opened his account for the Whites. It was his strike that broke the deadlock during their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
For some, it is no surprise to see James make an impact on the day Solskjaer’s departure was confirmed. They have suggested that he was written off too soon by his old side.
And they believe that he could develop into a different player under Bielsa.
