Manchester United are interested in signing ‘world class’ Bayern Munich player

Manchester United have a new manager, and that means that they could be in line for a busy transfer period.

Indeed, Ruben Amorim will want to make his mark, and his first port of call may be to bolster his midfield.

Casemiro has been criticised for his performances this season, while Kobbie Mainoo has also been questioned.

The midfield clearly needs surgery at Old Trafford, and that’s where United may want to focus their recruitment drive in the coming months.

Leon Goretzka has been linked to Manchester United recently, and according to Tobi Altschaffl, speaking on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast, United are indeed keen on Goretzka.

Manchester United keen on Leon Goretzka

The journalist shared what he knows about the ‘world class’ Bayern Munich midfielder.

According to Altschaffl, United haven’t been offered the chance to sign Goretzka, but they are keen on him as a potential transfer option, maybe for the summer.

“Yes, and let’s get straight to it. And the first rumour for you, of course, and according to Sky Switzerland, Bayern have offered Goretzka to Manchester United. Is that true or not true?” Altschaffl was asked.

“That’s not true, Leon Goretzka was not offered. Bayern Munich doesn’t do that,” Altschaffl said.

“It doesn’t simply offer players to other clubs. Yeah, no, that’s not Bayern-like. Bayern don’t do that as a matter of principle, unless you’re talking about younger players.”

“What is true, however, is that Goretzka is an issue at Manchester United. The new coach is said to be looking for reinforcements, and that might be an option for the summer.”

Manchester United are keen on Goretzka, and it may not be too difficult for the Red Devils to broker this deal.

Indeed, Goretzka is out of the picture at Bayern Munich at the moment under Vincent Kompany.

As you can see, Goretzka is barely getting a game for Bayern these days, and he could be on the move.

Of course, United have to proceed with caution if they want to sign Goretzka.

The midfielder has been a brilliant player over the years, but at the age of 29, he’s getting to that point where his best days may be behind him.

United have fallen for this trap before, Casemiro was signed as he was approaching the very end of his prime, while Bastian Schweinsteiger was signed from Bayern Munich in similar circumstances and he was way past his best.

This is an interesting rumour, but it’s a situation that United should carefully consider before making a move.
