Manchester City strike transfer deal that has left Aston Villa ‘in shock’
TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Aston Villa have been left “in shock” over a deal Manchester City have just struck.
The Villans had a difficult end to the Premier League season, dropping out of the Champions League places on the final day due to a controversial loss to Manchester United.
Aston Villa are now looking to strengthen their ranks ahead of a big 2025/26 campaign in which they will fancy their chances of winning the Europa League.
The Villans were confident of signing one of the best youngsters in world football, but Manchester City are now set to win the race at their expense.

Manchester City closing in on Sverre Nypan ahead of Aston Villa
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan has agreed a move to Manchester City.
Villa were confident of signing Nypan, with TBR Football sources previously confirming he had all-but agreed a move to the claret-and-blue side.
However, City have now made their move, and they have convinced Nypan to link up with them instead.
“City were 100 percent keen in January too,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football. “Hence he was at their game against Chelsea.
“They suggested Girona to him but he said he would rather be at City – which they have now agreed to…Villa are in shock, they really thought they had him.
“Villa asked Nypan to wait – PSR-wise, they have things to do so, they couldn’t do a deal for him right now.
“They fully believed he would wait for them, only until later in the summer – but once City heard about this, they made their move.”
City closing in on a ‘generational talent’
Nypan is the latest Norwegian wonderkid to emerge in the footsteps of the likes of Martin Odegaard, Erling Haaland, and Antonio Nusa.
At just 18 years of age, Nypan has already made 70 appearances for Rosenborg, registering an impressive 14 goals and 11 assists.
“I see him as one of those generational talents, he is that good,” Bailey previously told TBR Football.
“He has been likened to Martin Odegaard for much of his career, which is an easy comparison to make – they both possess passing ability handed down by the Gods of Football.
“Some see him as a number 10 but I think he is that proper 8 – more like a (Steven) Gerrard, (Frank) Lampard or (Jude) Bellingham than an Odegaard for me, someone who arrives in the box when needed.
“He really is a top talent. He can do anything.”
