Manchester City round-up: Persisting with Bayern’s Kingsley Coman; Leonardo Bonucci deal off; Sergio Aguero injury update
According to reports in , Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to persist with his interest in French international Kingsley Coman, despite signing for Bayern Munich just last month.
Coman was on a two-year long loan from Juventus up until a few weeks ago, when the German giants decided to activate a clause in his contract and snap him up for £18 million on a permanent basis.
Yet reports are now suggesting that Guardiola could sensationally still try and persuade the 20-year-old into a move to England in a move that could be worth around £50 million.
Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti is alleged to feel indifferent about Coman despite making his deal permanent at the Allianza Arena, and the winger has only been given nine starts all season so far.
City boss Guardiola was the one who brought Coman to the German side in the first place back in 2015, and it is believed that this link between the duo could help push a move to the Etihad.
And with Ancelotti reportedly only completing the move so he could make a handsome profit from the sale of the French winger, a move to the Premier League is certainly not out of the question yet.
In the same report, have also claimed that City are set to miss out on Juventus and Italy centre-back Leonardo Bonucci after he said he will see his contract out in Turin.
Speaking yesterday, the 30-year-old said:
“I have a contract with Juve until 2021, which I signed a very short time ago, and there are too many rumours.”
Guardiola had shown a lot of interest in the veteran defender – particularly during his first summer in Manchester – but it is believed now that both City and Premier League rivals Chelsea will miss out.
Meanwhile, Sergio Aguero is set to undergo a scan later today (Wednesday) after limping off during City’s 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough at the weekend, sparking fears that his season is over.
The reports that, unless the Argentine has only suffered minor damage to his groin area, there’s a large chance he’ll be absent for the visit of Crystal Palace on Saturday.
It is also believed that the 28-year-old could miss the Citizens next two home games – all three matches take place in the space of ten days – and Guardiola will be relieved that Gabriel Jesus is fit.
The Brazilian managed a full 90 minutes on his return from injury at the weekend, scoring the crucial equaliser late on to earn City a point, and it’s likely that he will lead from the front against Palace.
