Manchester City round-up: Hart fuels speculation; Guardiola to axe thirteen; Barcelona return rumours addressed
Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has added fuel to the fire over his potential stay at Italian side Torino today, claiming that he will keep ‘everything in consideration’ once the current season ends.
Hart has been on-loan at Torino since falling out with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during pre-season, but he is set to return to the Premier League side when the deal runs out in May.
Yet it is highly believed that he is not deemed a part of Guardiola’s future plans – with he is ‘surplus to requirements’ – and will look for a new club when he returns to the Etihad.
in Italy, Hart left the door open for a Torino stay:
“I am truly happy for this fantastic welcome. I’m very grateful to the fans for everything they are giving to me. I’ll take that into account. I keep everything in consideration for the future, but for now I remain concentrated on Toro and what I need to do.”
The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who was named in England’s squad for the upcoming games against Germany and Lithuania, has helped Torino in their top-half plight in Serie A this season.
With the exit door looming for England’s number one, Pep Guardiola is set to axe up to thirteen players as he looks to improve his squad.
This report comes a day after City were knocked out of the Champions League after a second-leg defeat to Monaco, and it is believed that key players will leave to raise money for summer spending.
Among the potential culprits are defensive trio Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, as well as Fernando, Nolito, Jesus Navas, Fabian Delph and under-fire goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is also a name touted for a summer exit, with his injury problems over the past few years set to force the City manager into letting him go.
Guardiola is also looking set to get rid of players returning from loan – most notably Joe Hart – as well as Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, and Eliaquim Mangala.
It is also claimed in the report that Sergio Aguero could be sold in order to raise funds for City’s summer spending spree, as Guardiola looks to strengthen in every area of the pitch.
yesterday that Guardiola will not be returning to Barcelona over the summer after Luis Enrique plans to step down as boss of the Catalan side.
Talking to the media yesterday, the Spaniard dismissed talks of a return:
“My period in Barcelona is done, I will never go back, like a first manager in Barcelona, never again. It’s done, I have said many times.”
Guardiola won two Champions League titles at the Nou Camp, on top of three league titles, but committed his future to Manchester City as he looks to turn the tide around and win silverware.
