Manchester City round-up: Fresh hope in Dortmund star’s saga; Sagna set for France return; Huddersfield swoop for £10m midfielder

According to reports coming from , Paris-Saint Germain have cooled their interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – leaving the door wide open for Manchester City, who had previously linked him with a move to.

It is believed that the French side aren’t prepared to pay the £61million price tag put on the Gabon international’s head, and will instead look elsewhere to bolster their attacking line. This plays right into Pep Guardiola’s hands, however, with Manchester City now firmly back in the race to secure the signing of the exceptionally-talented 27-year-old.

Aubameyang scored 31 goals in just 32 Bundesliga appearances last season, beating Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski to the Golden Boot, and he led his side to glory in the DFB Cup.

It is also understood by the  that former Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna is braced for a return to native country France, with Marseille allegedly interested in bringing him back to Ligue One.

The 34-year-old right-back was released from the Etihad as part of boss Pep Guardiola’s mass summer clear-out – a move that also saw Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Jesus Navas released.

And fresh reports are claiming that free agent Sagna has been approached by Marseille representatives ahead of a potential summer switch back to France after a decade spent in the Premier League.

Negotiations between the two parties have stalled recently due to a dispute over Sagna’s wage demands, but the French outfit remain confident that a deal can be secured in the next few weeks.

The veteran defender struggled to stake a claim for a regular first-team spot in Guardiola’s debut season in Manchester, only managing 14 Premier League starts all campaign.

Another player set for the Etihad exit door is midfielder Aaron Mooy, with Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town set to secure the permanent signing of the 25-year-old for a fee of £10 million.

Mooy spent last season out on loan at the Terriers, spear-heading their Play-Off final victory over Reading that secured promotion, and the claim a full-time deal is close.

It is believed that an initial fee of £8 million will be paid, with a potential £2 million for add-ons.

Despite being a Manchester City player Mooy has never taken to the field in a City shirt, being loaned out to Huddersfield immediately after signing from sister club Melbourne City last summer.

He made 51 appearances for the Championship side last season and was an integral part of their success, ending the season by being named in the PFA team of the year.
