Manchester City reportedly want player that recently commented on Paul Pogba comparisons
Manchester City are looking to bring in a replacement for long-serving midfielder Fernandinho this summer with the Brazilian’s contract due to expire in June – and one they are reportedly looking at recently commented on comparisons with Paul Pogba.
Pep Guardiola’s side need another holding midfielder, one with similar attributes to that of Brazil star Fernandinho. The midfielder is renowned for his lung-busting stamina, intricate passing – long or short – and his robust tackling and stength.
Denis Zakaria boasts many of the same characteristics. The 24-year-old faced City in the Champions League for Gladbach earlier this season, and City are now monitoring the Switzerland international ahead of a summer move.
in 2020, Zakaria has stated that he has been linked to Arsenal legend and Invincibles captain Patrick Vieira as well as Old Trafford ace Pogba – stating he watches videos on the way the duo play.
“I’ve been compared to [Patrick] Vieira and [Paul] Pogba – two more players I really respect and, in a way, see as role models. When I watch videos of them I think I’d like to play that way,” Zakaria said, as per the Bundesliga’a website.

TBR’s view – Zakaria is ideal, depending on the price
Zakaria is in a tricky contract situation – for his club, at least. He has entered the final 18 months of his contract and when the summer approaches, Gladbach will find the window presents them with the final opportunity to charge a decent fee.
Even this summer, it will be a smaller fee than his value. That is because by January, Manchester City could approach him on a free transfer – a pre-contract. So, City will use that to bargain a smaller fee.
If they can get him for less than £40million, they will have done well.
