Manchester City Player Ratings: How did Pep Guardiola’s side rate as they were held by Middlesbrough?

Manchester City failed to take advantage of their top four rivals dropping points on Sunday and stretch their lead after being held to a draw in an exciting encounter by relegation battlers Middlesbrough.

Manchester United’s draw with Swansea City meant that City could have moved into third with a win over almost-doomed Boro, but Alvardo Negredo’s first-half strike put the hosts in front at the Riverside.

The game’s big talking point came shortly after the hour-mark when Leroy Sane went down inside the area after minimal contact, with Sergio Aguero stepping up to tuck home the resulting spot-kick.

Calum Chambers’ delicate flick over Willy Caballero gave renewed hope in the battle for survival but Gabriel Jesus rose highest to thump home a late header to ensure the spoils were shared on Sunday.

Here are our ratings for the City players in their draw:

Willy Caballero – In for the injured Bravo, there wasn’t an awful lot he could do for Negredo’s opener that went in off the post. Potentially went to ground too early for the second, giving Chambers the chance to compose himself and lift it over him. 6.
