Manchester City fans signal out ‘great’ Nathan Ake performance despite loss to Chelsea
Manchester City fans on social media have praised centre-back Nathan Ake following his performance in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.
The Cityzens, who could have sealed the title with the three points yesterday, threw away a 1-0 lead as Chelsea scored a winner deep into stoppage time to hold Pep Guardiola’s Premier League celebrations off for another week, yet despite the late collapse, Ake impressed on the evening for the hosts, holding Christian Pulisic off with ease and putting in a good showing in the defence.
The 26-year-old defender has failed to break into the starting XI since his summer move to City from Bournemouth last year, but the Dutch international’s performance last night was a reminder of the quality Ake possesses, and that Guardiola has another solid option at the back should their ever be an injury to the likes of Ruben Dias or John Stones.
