Manager says he really doesn’t mind being linked with the Celtic job

Celtic have had their fair share of managerial upheaval in recent years.

From Neil Lennon to Brendan Rodgers back to Neil Lennon to Ange Postecoglou and back to Brendan Rodgers once again, The Bhoys have had to chop and change on a number of occasions.

Even this season, there has been speculation about Rodgers’ future at times, and whenever the Celtic job comes up, there are always a number of rumours that do the rounds, and one man who is always linked, at least tentatively, is Henrik Larsson.

The Swede is one of Celtic’s modern greats, and after dipping his toe into management since his retirement, many have linked him with a move to Celtic Park in recent years.

Speaking on , Larsson has been discussing his consistent links to the Celtic job, and he says that he really doesn’t mind being linked to the club and that it’s nice that he’s so fondly remembered.

The former striker spoke about his links to Celtic.

“In terms of coaching, does it frustrate you at all that you’re always linked with the Celtic job or is that something you’ve gone on to get used to? Larsson was asked.

“That is something I have to get used to. It’s always been like that and it will be like that for a number of years coming. It will always be like that, that’s the way it is.” Larsson said.

“I’m so connected with Celtic that my name will always be mentioned there and I don’t dislike it.

“It’s fortunate to still be remembered as a player and hopefully as a person, so it’s not a burden it’s a blessing.”

Henrik Larsson won’t get the Celtic job

As romantic as it would be for Larsson to eventually manage Celtic, that ship has surely sailed now.

Celtic are way beyond just hiring someone based on their playing career or the fact they’re a club legend, their last two managers have been brilliant tacticians who’ve either worked for or gone on to work for some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Sadly, Larsson’s managerial CV doesn’t shape up, and while he will probably continue to be linked with this post whenever it is open, it’s hard to see the Swede ever getting the nod to manager the Scottish giants.
