Manager eyeing Leeds prospect on loan, Marcelo Bielsa admires his ‘skills’ and ‘human qualities’

Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts appears to be a man in demand, with several clubs reportedly eager to sign the 20-year-old Elland Road gem on loan.

While Gotts has been in the Leeds first-team picture throughout Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, he has made just three senior appearances for the Whites.

According to , the Premier League newcomers are open to sending Gotts out on loan in order to help further his development with extended first-team opportunities.

The same outlet claims that Championship side Huddersfield, as well as League One outfits Hull, Swindon and Charlton, are interested in the talented youngster.

Now, Lincoln manager Michael Appleton has confirmed that he is eyeing Gotts on loan ahead of the domestic transfer window deadline, which closes at 5pm on Friday.

“There are three of four with different clubs, who potentially we may look to do something just to make sure the squad is more than capable of getting through to January when the window shuts this week – and Robbie is one of those,” the League One side’s boss told .

“But I am guessing there are numerous clubs in the race. The problem we have got is the finances, it’s one of them where unless it’s next to nothing – or nothing – in terms of allowing us to give players exposure and getting them into a first team environment with little cost to us, then obviously we are not going to be able to do it.

“But if that is the case then we would love to give the opportunity to a young player and hopefully build a relationship. Robbie is obviously somebody we are aware of but I am sure there are probably four or five other clubs at this moment in time who want the same thing.”

Gotts is a talented youngster who is highly rated by Bielsa, who told in December: “Gotts is a player I admire for his skills and for his human qualities.”

The Argentine also admitted at the time that he felt guilty about his lack of game time, saying “he does everything to achieve his goal even though he didn’t have minutes on the pitch.”

The stakes were incredibly high for Leeds last season when they were fighting to get out of the Championship, and now they’re in the Premier League, Gotts is likely to struggle further for game time.

As a result, a loan move in the Championship or League One would probably be ideal for him.
