Manager comments on future of £2m-rated star linked with Celtic and Rangers

that goal machine Lawrence Shankland is going nowhere anytime soon – despite being linked with a move to both Celtic and Rangers – but could leave next summer.

Shankland, 24, has been in explosive form once again this season. He has found the back of the net 15 times in just 11 outings, including four against Inverness and a hat-trick last time out against Morton.

His form has been so impressive that he has earned a call-up to the senior Scotland squad, despite playing in the Scottish Championship. Celtic and Rangers scouts watched Shankland in the 6-0 win last weekend against Morton.

Sunderland are also keen, and reckon Dundee United would cash in for £2million. Now, Neilson has come out in public to deliver a hands-off warning, reminding interested parties he signed a three-year deal at Tannadice.

“There is not any pressure on us to sell Lawrence,” . “He signed a three year contract, which is great for us. He is scoring goals for us and has got international recognition and we won’t be looking to do anything until at least the summer.”

TBR’s view – Shankland must take Scotland chance, if he wants Old Firm move

Yet to be proven at the top level, Shankland has incredible stats for both Ayr and Dundee United. Indeed, he netted 61 goals in 73 games for Ayr. But against top-level opposition, he has little experience.

With Scotland, Shankland must show that he can impress against teams at that level, if he gets the chance. If he manages to do that, then Celtic and Rangers will only be more impressed.
