Manager claims ‘gifted’ player will be leaving his side, after being strongly linked with Tottenham move

If Tottenham Hotspur fans still want Gareth Bale to come back home, it’s time for them to be optimistic as Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the Welshmen will be leaving the club in the summer.

Bale left Spurs to join Real Madrid in 2013 for an eye-watering £85.3 million (). He has helped the Galacticos win multiple Champions League trophies during his time there, but he just hasn’t been appreciated enough by the fans at the Bernabeu.

The Welshman’s contract in Madrid will expire at the end of this season. He will not get an extension there and it is very likely that he will return to the Premier League as a free agent in the summer.

Tottenham, unsurprisingly, have been strongly linked with a move, with claiming that they even have a pre-contract agreed.

He said about Bale, as per : “I speak to him, just as I try to speak to all of them. I try to get the best out of them and to speak to them about their problems. I have a good relationship with him and the rest of the players.

“Personal relationships are strong when everyone shows respect and he has always done that and has never let me down in that regard.

“In the past, he hasn’t had great motivation, but he wants to end things here in a good way. Bale has helped this club to win the Champions League, Copa del Rey, etc. and signing off on a high here would be good for his career.”

Should Spurs re-sign the Welshman?

Bale, labelled as a ‘‘ by Gary Lineker, returned to Tottenham on loan last season and it really did seem like a fairytale. To be fair to him, he actually performed well – scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances – but he just didn’t look like the player he once was.

Tottenham have been linked with Bale again and although he can still be a world-beater, it is difficult to imagine how he would fit into Antonio Conte’s system.

Playing him as a wing-back makes no sense whatsoever, while a place in the front-three isn’t really up for grabs either, with Lucas Moura performing really well under Conte.

As good as it will be for fans, re-signing Bale makes no sense for Tottenham in the summer.
