Man Utd could’ve signed winger who ‘will win the Ballon d’Or’ instead of Antony
Antony to Manchester United may go down as one of the worst signings in recent Premier League history.
The Brazilian joined Manchester United back in 2022 for a staggering , and to say that United haven’t had a good return on investment is an understatement.
Antony has, by-and-large, been poor for United, and according to Steve Kay, speaking on , United did have an alternative signing they could’ve made instead of Antony 18 months ago.
Indeed, according to Kay, United could easily have signed West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus instead of Antony, but the Red Devils opted for the Brazilian.

United could’ve signed Kudus
Kay shared what he knows about the signing of Antony at the time.
“There’s also been some poor signings, but I think you said that the only reason they got Antony is because he went to the scouts and they had nobody for him,” The host said.
“No, Garth, I know for a fact that he could’ve had Kudus instead of Antony, it was one or the other and I will tell you what, I’d take Kudus over Antony,” Kay said.
Disaster
This just makes the signing of Antony look even worse.
Not only have United signed a below-par player here, they’ve passed up on someone who would’ve made their team so much better.
Kudus has been a revelation for West Ham in the Premier League this season, so much so that one of his former coaches has now that ‘will win the Ballon d’Or’ within a few years.
Kudus is a top player who Erik Ten Hag knew well from Ajax, but, for some reason, the Dutchman wanted Antony signed up instead of the Ghanaian and that may go down as one of the worst recruitment decisions in recent Premier League memory.
